My fiancée and I went to Taco City for a Friday dinner and really enjoyed ourselves. Taco City is no-frills and has a very utilitarian vibe. Not much effort is wasted on ambiance or comfort, but the food makes up for any perceived shortcomings there.
To start, we tried the queso fundido with chorizo. It was excellent. They use real chihuahua cheese, which was appreciated.
My fiancée had the mole enchiladas, which were on par with most local offerings. The serving size was generous.
I tried three tacos - chorizo, al pastor, and camarones. All three were top notch. The shrimp taco was one of the best Ive had in DC.
Great little family-owned place. Im really happy we tried it. Definitely would recommend if you're in the neighborhood. -

This was a great post church lunch spot. No wait and not super crowded. We went with a group of 6 and were seated right away. We got five different items.
Quesdillas - beef and chicken. The beef quesadilla was requested without the toppings. My friend said it was good, but there was a lot of cheese on it and the cheese was essentially flavorless.
Chicken quesadilla was apparently very good.
Tacos Dorados- "These are amazing"
Tacos - Al pastor - "I have had better, not much to them" Chorizo - "Really good, my favorite taco"
Brussel sprout- good Vegan option, I would have preferred them to be crispier but they were still good. The avocado sauce on top made the whole taco. The black beans really had no flavor, I had to request hot sauce to but on them. Highly recommend the hot sauce!! -

A great addition to the neighborhood! Extremely friendly staff and fast service at lunch and dinner.
Great dishes include the enchiladas with mole, esquites, and cactus tacos. Their salsa has a great smoky flavor. The only item I haven't enjoyed is the churros. The dough itself was lacking a rich flavor. Another area for improvement would be larger dipping cups for salsa, but they will always bring you more if you ask :)
I've been here at least 5 times now and have never had the service issues that others have mentioned. -

Excellent presentation all around, but the food was bland and boring.
Clearly trying to appeal to the Millenials with small plates, faux authentic decor, and hipster branding, this taco joint fails to bring it where it counts: flavor.
Check the guac photo: looks cute, but flavorless guac is not cute. Really not cute. The salsa was the same. The fried chicken tacos were odd. Flavors didn't mesh. and the rest of the tacos were, well, bland.
Furthermore - and this has to be said - what's with this idea that it's okay for chicken to be dry if you cram it inside something - a la a taco, a la a tortilla, a la a sandwich. Whatever. Don't overcook my chicken!
Service was very slow. They need more help in there.
And watch out for those water glasses. They are deceptively heavy. -

Taco city was so darn good! I probably won't be able to step foot back into DC without stopping in for some of their authentic street tacos! I've had street tacos all over the US and I eat them often but these were hands down the absolute best! They were inexpensive and every bite was so darn savory with the perfect blend of good quality ingredients, fresh corn tortillas, and the sauces were picked out by a true genius of a chef!
Every bite was full of flavor, juice, and they were sooooo darn good!
I enjoyed the Chicken Tacos, the Pork Tacos, and last but definitely not least... the Brussel Sprout Tacos! I'm a big southern boy that likes my food so I don't order many meals without some sort of meat but those Brussel sprout tacos were to die for! Take my word and order at least one!
Great service too! Thanks!
Tip: Make sure you back into your parking space out front to avoid a ticket. I've never seen a spot you had to back into but luckily a local warned me before I headed in to eat and it was no issue.
Enjoy!
Yorlenys is the best bar tender! Thanks!
She makes a great margarita!
